Ozark, Mo. - In March 2025, the City of Ozark will permanently close the intersection of S. 3rd Street (outer road) and Oak Street, following extensive discussions with the Ozark School District, the Ozark Police Department, and city leaders. This decision is aimed at improving safety and reducing traffic-related risks in the area.
Barriers will be placed at the end of S. 3rd Street to prevent access to and from the Oak Street intersection, providing a safer environment for drivers and pedestrians.
Ozark Public Works Director Jeremy Parsons explained, "Closing this intersection is a proactive step toward enhancing safety in this area. It will also set the stage for future roadway improvements, such as the potential redesigning of the Oak Street intersection."
Dr. Curtis Chesick, assistant superintendent of operations for the Ozark School District, added, "We have evaluated our bus routes. Our current routes will not be affected, and this closure will significantly improve safety for all future routes."
This closure will not impact drivers' ability to access Oak Street from the primary S. 3rd Street road.
