Spring Valley Water System
Spring Valley Water System
In 2023, the City of Ozark began exploring the possibility of acquiring certain assets of the Missouri-American Water Company (MAWC) water system, which currently serves customers in the Spring Valley Subdivision. We understand your interest in the future of this water system and how it will affect you. This page will give you the most up-to-date information, so we encourage you to check back here often.
On April 1, 2024, the Ozark Board of Aldermen voted to move forward with the proposed acquisition of the Spring Valley Water System, which currently services 144 addresses and approximately 95 customers. City staff will work with MAWC staff to prepare the documents required by the Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC), which regulates investor-owned electric, natural gas, steam, water, and sewer utilities in Missouri. The PSC review will help ensure that the City of Ozark can provide water service for the customers in this area.
Additional updates and projected timelines will be provided as the city continues to work through the process and proceeds with its due diligence. To receive these updates, you can sign up here: myozark.info/SpringValleyUpdates
Usage & Rate Estimates
The proposed sale of this water system to the City of Ozark will benefit customers in the Spring Valley Subdivision, including an estimated decrease in average monthly water bills, improved fire protection, and a stronger, more reliable water distribution network.
Water service estimates are based on an average family of four using 400 gallons of water daily. MAWC and Ozark Utility Billing have provided the current rate data.
Missouri-American Water Company (MAWC) Current Rate:
- Water Service Charge = $10.00 per month
- Water Usage Charge = $8.3781 per 1000 gallons used
- WSIRA (Water Infrastructure Replacements and Improvements) Surcharge = $0.03207 per 1000 gallons used
- Water Primacy Fee = $0.44 per customer
- County Sales Tax = Varies but is ~ $0.05 per 1000 gallons
MAWC Average Monthly for a family of 4: Average monthly usage for a family of 4 = 400 Gallons per day x 30 days = 9,600 gallons
9.6 x 8.3781 = 80.42976 + 10.00 + WSIRA .31 + Primacy Fee .44 + County Sales Tax .48
TOTAL AVERAGE BILL of $91.66
City of Ozark Current Rate:
